LJ100 important race update 6/01/21

Happy first of June all you Lumberjack riders! The race is less than 3 weeks away!!  It has been a wild ride with plenty of changes to get to where we are today. First off, you can go ahead and digitally “crumple up” the last communication we sent with rules/guidelines and throw it in your desktop “trash”. As many of you may know, the CDC and State of Michigan have released updated COVID rules and restrictions that are effective as of June 1st. The use of masks is no longer required at outdoor gatherings for those who are vaccinated, and there are no limitations on gathering size. So, what does this mean for the event?! Well, I know we previously said no crews, no team tents and no hand-ups but that has changed. We are happy to announce that you may bring your family/friends/crew as in past years! You may also receive assistance as per previous years in the designated lap/finish zone.

If you’ve made a whole bunch of changes to your plan, we sincerely apologize but our crystal ball was out of commission. Hopefully this is all good news though and you’ve got enough time to react and plan accordingly. Please keep in mind that although the rules have relaxed, we are still in a pandemic and need to stay safe and act cautiously. Some people may not be vaccinated or may be weary of close contact with others after over a year of socially distancing, masking, and not seeing others. We ask that you not assume everyone attending is comfortable with close interaction and to act respectfully of other’s wishes to be safe. On that note….

Here is a list of our COVID rules/guidelines for the 2021 Lumberjack 100:

·       Fully vaccinated people will not be required to wear masks at the event.

·       Unvaccinated people should wear a mask anytime they are in close proximity to others; In line for rider check in, food line, bathroom line, beer line, etc…

·       Respectfully give people their space (6 feet or more). Although many people may be vaccinated you should not assume someone is comfortable being in close contact.

·       With state restrictions lifted as of June 1st regarding gathering limitations you are welcome to have your usual crew/family members in attendance. With that being said, parking is always at a premium so please carpool to the event site.

·       You may receive hand-ups and crew assistance at the designated lap/finish area as in prior years.

·       We'll have hand sanitizer dispensers available at numerous locations in the start/finish area and near porta-johns. We will also have surface sanitizing wipes available.

·       Feel free to bring your own sanitizing products as you see fit.

·       Our staff is fully vaccinated and it will be up to each staff member whether they wear a mask or not.

·       All riders swag bags will be pre-filled and handed out at check-in.

·       After the race, beer will be served by staff. We will have Founder’s beer/seltzer in cans. You can drink out of the can or we will also have Greenware cups.

·        After the race, food will be served by Camzie’s Pizza in to-go containers.

We last communicated that we would have waves of around 50 people at the event, but with the latest changes from the CDC and State of Michigan we will be moving to waves of around 100 people. There is no need for action from you, and this is more of an FYI. We will use the information from the custom questions y’all answered in BikeReg to determine waves for everyone. Once again, everything is chip timed so no one will be at a disadvantage!

IMPORTANT REMINDER!! The deadline for registration transfers and to receive a refund is Wednesday June 2nd at 5pm EST. Up until that date you can simply follow the transfer process to transfer your entry to a friend or you can email us and request a full refund and the next person on the waitlist gets to join the fun. This is also the deadline for race category and wave changes. Once the deadline passes there are no transfers, refunds or deferrals. The deadline is in place to allow for the CUSTOM number plates with racers’ names printed on them to be made and shipped to us. Please respect the deadline and refrain from asking for an exception if something comes up after that date as we will be going full gas to get everything ready!

We will provide a final communication document with all of the details you need for a successful race one week in advance of the event. You can also find tons of great information on our website including the course GPS files, maps, rules, etc… We couldn’t be more excited to see everyone after a “year off” from the event and we can’t wait to see y’all tear up the Lumberjack 100 race course!!!

Cheers,

The Pavement Ends Team
