Founders Brewing Company presents the Lumberjack 100 and the Michigan Ultra Single Speed Championship. Michigans only 100-mile mountain bike race! The Lumberjack 100 will once again utilize Michigans beautiful
Manistee National Forest, with a 25-mile loop snaking through the
Big-M Ski Area. The Michigan style single track; composed mostly of hard pack trail, occasional sandy sections, and fast rolling terrain offers twists and turns that demand constant power, and total concentration as the trails quickly turn to nothing more than green blurs of forest. (If youre expecting easy, fire-road coasting, look elsewhere!) Ninety nine percent of the 25-mile, 4-lap race is comprised of this single track that will eventually push racers over 13,000 feet of total elevation gain.
From the pro/elite racers, to those that will find victory in just surviving a race like the Founders Lumberjack 100, the post-race party has also made this a must-be-there event for both racers and spectators alike. In addition to enjoying the fine brews of signature sponsor
Founders Brewery; there will also be a post-race raffle loaded with a variety of prizes. Including a
Cannondale Rush frameset,
Velocity wheelset,
Thomson Elite seat posts and stems, and enough other bike schwag that practically no racer goes home empty handed.
The Founders Lumberjack 100 is proud to be a stop on the
National Ultra-Endurance Mountain Bike 100 Series.
$125 entry fee includes: the race, aid station, event t-shirt, pint glass, post-race meal and
Founders Ale!
Early Registration: $125.00
After May 5th: $150.00
No refund of any kind will be allowed.

If you or somone you know has taken some quality pictures and would like to share them with the world. I can add them to my
www.kisscross.smugmug.com site for all to enjoy. Please send them to me in a reasonable size
amtnbiker@chartermi.netSorry we have had a few gliches with some results further down in the standings. An updated results posting should be made tonight (6-21-06) on this website and the
www.cyclingnews.com website. These changes do not affect the top 15.
I don't know what the hell I was thinking. I really blew it. I am so sorry I didn't give the singlespeeders and masters proper recognition for your accomplishments at the awards party. The top three of each class certainly deserved the podium.
Perhaps when I started with the SSW and Danielle was the only one to finish in the WSS I put her up on the podium alone, then followed suit with the SSM and Masters. I feel bad about this and it won't happen in the future. Bare with me as I learn all there is to know about race promotion!
Thank you to all the sponsors and volunteers this year! I meant to name each one at the awards ceremony but I forgot due to the long overwhelming day in the 85 degree heat :)
I had a great time and I hope you did too.
If you have a suggestions or comments on how you think I could have done better, please feel free to email me and let me know.
I have a few items from the lost and found department: zip lock bag with a size medium, blue Pearl jersey, tubes and energy food. Also a hand pump. Contact me so I can hopefully get it back to you.

We have and error with Matt Thourot and Nate Phelps results. A corrected version should be online Tuesday night. Thanks for catching these errors guys.

Man it was a hot weekend! We had temps as high as 89 degrees on my van computer. About 160 folks started and only 63 finished all four laps. I would like to thank all the sponsors and volunteers that made this weekend possible. If you speak with any of them, please thank them too. Without them, this race would not happen.

WE HAVE OUR FIRST FIXIE- AARON SMITH!
CRUNCH TIME!
The last post before the race!
The meals are ordered, the shirts have arrived and the pint glasses have shipped. I will be up at the race site Thursday-Friday preparing the course and dialing in the race site. Cell coverage is terrible up there and I will not be on-line very often. Hold questions until race packet pickup or riders meeting.
Packet pick-up will be held at the Big M lodge (race start area) from 5-9pm Friday evening and 5:30-6am Saturday morning. Post race meals are sold out, plenty of pint glasses, beer and a few shirts for late registrations still available. NOTE: If you plan to register after today (Wednesday June 14th) fill out your registration form and make payment at packet pick up. DO NOT send payments via mail. They won't arrive in time.
Day of registration is fine, but I would prefer Friday at the latest.
I have been informed that there are a ton of ticks and mosquito's at Big M this year. Ticks love sand and the parking lot at Big M is very sandy. A bummer for the folks camping in the lot for sure. Please be prepared and bring your tick and 'skitter spray.
CAN YOU STILL SIGN UP PAST THE CLOSING DATE? Yes. It will be considered late registration, the meals and shirts have sold out but you will receive the pint glass and great Founders Ale. Registration is limited to 250 racers.
Please read the rules page. I few folks did not know that I have eliminated 2 aid stations this year and there will be no bag transfers to the aid table. You will still have your one self supported aid station and one promoter staffed aid station with lots of new goodies this year. This equals two aid stops per lap. One at the start/finish area and one 12 miles into the loop.
Make sure you understand the new version of the awards this year. The cash purse is distributed to the overall male and female. For example, if Scott Q is the fastest man overall, he takes the top cash prize and the axe trophy, if John Smith is 3rd overall but is registered as a Master he would take the 3rd cash prize and the Masters trophy if he's the top Masters. Another not impossible scenario? Say Dan Jansen is the fastest man overall and registered as a SS'der. He takes the top cash prize, the overall axe trophy and the SS axe trophy! The only way to place in the money for SS and Masters is to place in the overall class. In otherwords SS and Masters do not have your own separate cash purse.
The Founders Lumberjack 100 is proud to be a part of the National MTB Ultra Endurance Series! More info on this exciting series can be had at
http://www.ultramtb.com/Exciting awards banquet news- Cannondale has donated a Rush frameset and Velocity has donated a disc wheelset to be raffled off to some lucky race attendants! But you must be present to win.
Free camping will be allowed at the Big M parking lot this year. Space will be limited and first come first served. Campfires are only allowed at the group fire pit near the lodge.
For those traveling from Wisconsin and Minnesota and wish to take the ferry across Lake Michigan, our sponsor Lake Express has offered
FREE trips across the lake for racers! Please email Lake Express, Joy for details.
Registered racer, Eric Cook has chosen the Founders Lumberjack 100 to raise money for Children's Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation (CNCF) and he has set up a donation collection site at
http://www.active.com/donate/ecook. More info on Eric Cook and this endeavor is available at
http://www.ericcook.blogspot.com/Please take a moment and learn about what you can do to help. So far he has raised over $3000.00!

Bells vs Founders vs Dark Horse
John Meyers joins the list of Brewery sponsored racers! Looks like a great race will unfold between the breweries.
We have less than a week to go, hope everyone is ready! The meals are ordered, the shirts have arrived and the pint glasses will ship Tuesday. I will be up at the race site Thursday preparing the course and dialing in the race site. So if there are any questions, please let me know before then. CONGRATS! to local ss'der and Founders Ale racer, Dan Jansen on his first place win in the ss class at the Mohican Wilderness 100! (3rd overall). Unbelieveable considering he broke his collarbone 10 days prior to the race!
CAN YOU STILL SIGN UP PAST THE CLOSING DATE? Yes. It will be considered late registration, the meals and shirts have sold out but you will receive the pint glass and great Founders Ale. Registration is limited to 250 racers.

Chris Eatough joins the madness!
Post race meals are sold out, plenty of pint glasses, beer and a few shirts for late registrations still available.
I have been informed that there are a ton of ticks and mosquito's at Big M this year. Ticks love sand and the parking lot at Big M is very sandy. A bummer for the folks camping in the lot for sure. Please be prepared and bring your tick and 'skitter spray.
CONGRATS! to local ss'der and Founders Ale racer, Dan Jansen on his first place win in the ss class at the Mohican Wilderness 100! (3rd overall). Unbelieveable considering he broke his collarbone 10 days prior to the race!
REGISTRATION HAS CLOSED BUT....WHY does registration close if the race hasn't sold out? Because I can't speculate how many racers may sign up between May 19th and June 17th and I need to get my final numbers into the t-shirt, pint glass and catering people. They need 3 weeks to prepare the goods and I can't afford to over purchase these items.
CAN YOU STILL SIGN UP PAST THE CLOSING DATE? Email me and see if we have sold out, if not, yes you may sign up...But I can't promise you'll receive the shirt, pint glass or post race meal. Founders Ale?...Yes, I can't take away a hard earned beer!
Next year I think I will go to a graduated pay scale for registration, this will clear up any confusion with this years system.
The Founders Lumberjack 100 is proud to be a part of the
National MTB Ultra Endurance Series! More info on this exciting series can be had at
http://www.ultramtb.com/Exciting awards banquet news- Cannondale has donated a Rush frameset and Velocity has donated a disc wheelset to be raffled off to some lucky race attendants! But you must be present to win.Free camping will be allowed at the Big M parking lot this year. Space will be limited and first come first served. Campfires are only allowed at the group fire pit near the lodge.
For those traveling from Wisconsin and Minnesota and wish to take the ferry across Lake Michigan, our sponsor Lake Express has offered
FREE trips across the lake for racers! Please email me for details.
Registered racer, Eric Cook has chosen the Founders Lumberjack 100 to raise money for Children's Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation (CNCF) and he has set up a donation collection site at
